Erik and Gloria Ender founded Freedom Finishing in 1992. They began by offering powder coating application services to automotive and industrial customers in Western Michigan. Erik and Gloria's commitment to caring for both their customers and employees fueled consistent growth over the past 30+ years. In 2001, Freedom expanded its capabilities by adding an electrocoating (E-coat) line.
The addition of E-coat allowed Freedom to offer customers a combined E-coat and powder coat solution. Just as importantly, the E-coat line's considerable capacity allowed Freedom to attract larger automotive suppliers throughout Michigan and Indiana. Throughout this period of growth, the Enders maintained their focus on customer service. Freedom today serves customers in the automotive, military, appliance, RV, and furniture industries and specializes in large production volumes.
Acme Finishing Company (Elk Grove Village, IL) completed an investment in Freedom in 2025. The Enders long-standing commitment to providing high quality coating and stellar customer service married perfectly with Acme Finishing, a provider of powder coat and wet paint application services. Today, the company offers E-coat, powder coat, and wet application services along with various value add services (masking, kitting, tooling design, light assembly) on ten production lines spread across facilities located outside Chicago and in Benton Harbor.
Both Acme and Freedom are proud of the long-standing relationships they enjoy with some of the world's most trusted brands and seek to continue to grow by providing market leading quality and world class customer service to OEMs and their supplier networks.
